Past
They
say that it was the most gruesome murder to ever happen in the city.
The victims had moved into their house just a month before they were
killed. No one knew anything about the victims. They kept their lips
sealed about their past, or virtually anything about themselves. The
only subject they readily talked about was their son Mikkel, and even
that was done rarely. Speaking of Mikkel, he was the only survivor
within that house. In fact, the victims' bodies might have laid
undiscovered for many weeks if a neighbor hadn't heard him crying.
It
was strange everyone said that the killer would spare a ten month old
baby. They had thought with how horrific the entire thing was that even a
baby wouldn't escape the murderer's wrath. Some claim that the killer
spared Mikkel on purpose, but that theory was quickly dismissed. No,
people came to believe that he was only spared because the killer hadn't
realized he was there. If the killer had Mikkel would have shared the
same fate as his parents.
Given
that no one had any information about any other family he might have,
Mikkel was sent to live with a foster family. This arrangement did not
last. Like many children within foster care, Mikkel was consistently
being moved for one home to another. Also, like other children with the
system, Mikkel hoped that the next home he was sent to would be the
one--his forever home. This would never come to past. None of the foster
families he found himself living within wanted to adopt him. This was
not uncommon for those children that found themselves within the system.
Many do not find their forever home. The reasons for this are endless.
For
Mikkel, the reason that he wasn't adopted was due to the strangeness
that surrounded him. Everyone claimed that there was something off about
him. They claimed that his hyper-active friendly nature was only an
act, and that he was secretly thinking of ways to hurt them. There were a
lot of hatred and anger within his eyes, they said, but most of all he
babbled strange things. Impossible things. He spoke of things within the
past. Things that everyone knew couldn't possibly be true. They knew
their history, and the things he uttered went against everything they
learned.
That,
however, wasn't the thing that unnerved them the most. Sometimes the
things he babbled about had nothing to do with the past. There were
times he spoke of the future, and whatever predictions he made came to
pass. This unnerved people greatly. Some believed that he was sealing a
person's fate rather than predicting it. This wasn't true. Mikkel only
said things as he saw them, but while people claim to want to know their
future they become frighten when they come into contact with an actual
seer.
Eventually,
he gave up hope of finding his forever home, and, at the age of
sixteen, he struck it out on his own. He became a mercenary of sorts. It
is said that he has his hands within everything, but the thing he is
most known for is his ability to break into and out of anything. It is
said there isn't a lock he can't break. Whether this is true or not is
up for debate. One of the places he ended up breaking into belonged to
her--a girl named Sol, whom he had been having dreams about. Finding
her, answered many of the questions brought on by these dreams. Sol claimed that he was the one called Delos within these dreams, and that they were lovers.
Present
Mikkel
found the forever home he had given up on years ago. He moved in with
Sol. Much to the vexations of Sol, Mikkel keeps enjoying the same
activities that he had enjoyed before he decided to break into her
estate--including breaking into places he shouldn't be in the first
place. He has endless reasons why he ends up in these place. Sometimes
he claims that he was testing out their security systems. Others he will
claim to have been confused about where he was at, and then there are
just the times where he just grins and say he did it because it just
looked fun.
Whatever
the reason, he knows Sol would rather he not do such things. In fact,
Sol wishes that he didn't leave the protection of the estate. There are
dangerous things out there that would kill him in a heart beat--even
more so if they knew about his connection with her. However, Mikkel has
no desire staying locked up inside a cage, even one as beautiful as her
estate. He believes that regardless if he stays within the estate or not
that he is going to die, and that he wants to die living. He does
understand the reasons why Sol wishes for him never to leave the estate.
She is afraid of losing him again in the same manner she did those
countless eons ago.
He
doesn't know if Sol is right about him being Delos. He does know that
she believes that he is, but there could be other reason for him having
those dreams and for her believing that he is Delos. He might be the one
to lead her to him or something like that. But, whatever the truth
might be, Mikkel does know that he is in love with Sol, and that his feelings for her won't change even if he finds out that he isn't Delos.
